Instructions for this target

How to compress an image below 500 KB

A document photograph or compact form image could be prepared under a 500 KB upload allowance while remaining sufficiently readable.

Step 1: Check the size and format

The tool above is preselected to 500 KB. Choose one JPEG, PNG or WebP image from your device. If a service specifies JPG or another supported type, use the Output format control to match it.

Step 2: Adjust settings for 500 KB

Choose an accepted format, try Compress only, then resize if needed. This image output is not a PDF: for a 500 KB PDF limit use the separate image-to-PDF workflow.

If you enter a width or height, use Resize and compress and keep Keep aspect ratio checked to avoid stretching. Resize only does not enforce a file-size limit.

Step 3: Verify the download

Select the compress button, inspect the before-and-after previews and check the output size and dimensions. Download only after the size verifies below 500 KB and the image still looks suitable.

A file-size pass does not mean it meets every third-party image requirement.

About this example

The use case above illustrates what someone might do with a 500 KB budget. It is not a claim that any named organisation requires this exact limit. Check your receiving service's published maximum, accepted format and required dimensions.
