Instructions for this target

How to compress an image below 5 MB

LinkedIn Help specifies a 5 MB maximum for photographs shared in posts, alongside other size and aspect-ratio recommendations.

Step 1: Check the size and format

The tool above is preselected to 5120 KB. Choose one JPEG, PNG or WebP image from your device. If a service specifies JPG or another supported type, use the Output format control to match it.

Step 2: Adjust settings for 5 MB

Check the destination's ratio and pixel guidance. LinkedIn post photos and LinkedIn profile photos have different limits; passing a 5 MB test alone does not prevent cropping.

If you enter a width or height, use Resize and compress and keep Keep aspect ratio checked to avoid stretching. Resize only does not enforce a file-size limit.

Step 3: Verify the download

Select the compress button, inspect the before-and-after previews and check the output size and dimensions. Download only after the size verifies below 5 MB and the image still looks suitable.

A file-size pass does not mean it meets every third-party image requirement.

LinkedIn photo posts

LinkedIn's maximum for post photos is 5 MB, with additional dimensions and aspect-ratio guidance.

Relationship to this preset: Published maximum. This is a maximum or safety margin, not an instruction to produce a file of exactly 5 MB.
