Instructions for this target

How to compress an image below 950 KB

A 950 KB target allows deliberate headroom under a stated 1 MB ceiling without heavily compressing a photo that already fits.

Step 1: Check the size and format

The tool above is preselected to 950 KB. Choose one JPEG, PNG or WebP image from your device. If a service specifies JPG or another supported type, use the Output format control to match it.

Step 2: Adjust settings for 950 KB

Check the actual output bytes and the receiving form's units. Do not repeatedly re-encode a good image simply to make its size approach 950 KB.

If you enter a width or height, use Resize and compress and keep Keep aspect ratio checked to avoid stretching. Resize only does not enforce a file-size limit.

Step 3: Verify the download

Select the compress button, inspect the before-and-after previews and check the output size and dimensions. Download only after the size verifies below 950 KB and the image still looks suitable.

A file-size pass does not mean it meets every third-party image requirement.

About this example

The use case above illustrates what someone might do with a 950 KB budget. It is not a claim that any named organisation requires this exact limit. Check your receiving service's published maximum, accepted format and required dimensions.
