Compress image to 8 MB

Use this page when you need an image below, under, less than, up to or maximum 8 MB. Larger MB targets are helpful for higher-quality uploads, thumbnails and web images without relying on server-side processing.

Instructions for this target

How to compress an image below 8 MB

LinkedIn Help specifies a maximum of 8 MB for profile pictures with JPG or PNG formats and additional dimension requirements.

Step 1: Check the size and format

The tool above is preselected to 8192 KB. Choose one JPEG, PNG or WebP image from your device. If a service specifies JPG or another supported type, use the Output format control to match it.

Step 2: Adjust settings for 8 MB

Prepare the portrait for a centred circular presentation separately. This compressor will not apply a crop, and the 8 MB profile-photo limit differs from LinkedIn's post-photo cap.

If you enter a width or height, use Resize and compress and keep Keep aspect ratio checked to avoid stretching. Resize only does not enforce a file-size limit.

Step 3: Verify the download

Select the compress button, inspect the before-and-after previews and check the output size and dimensions. Download only after the size verifies below 8 MB and the image still looks suitable.

A file-size pass does not mean it meets every third-party image requirement.

Verified example of an upload limit

LinkedIn profile photos

LinkedIn's maximum for profile photos is 8 MB; JPG and PNG are supported and pixel dimensions also matter.

Relationship to this preset: Published maximum. This is a maximum or safety margin, not an instruction to produce a file of exactly 8 MB.

Official upload requirements Checked 2026-10-28. The service's current rules take precedence.
